My usual coffee supplier is still re-building after the January floods, so getting that hit first thing in the morning has required some exploration around the Milton area, whilst keeping a wide birth from the Euro cafes on Park Rd that never seem to get it right.

Railway Terrace has sprouted a few new additions to the Milton cafe scene in recent months, one of which is the aptly named Bunker.

With barely enough to room to swing the proverbial cat, Bunker houses a fridge, a coffee machine, a couple of bench seats and a few cosy staff members piled behind the counter, all underneath and surrounded by ivy-covered concrete.

Boasting organic blends of coffee and chocolate, the Bunker baristas are friendly, welcoming and make a mean coffee – the best I’ve had the pleasure of drinking in the Milton area for some time.  The caffeine kick left me pretty much incapable of doing anything back in the office, with the exception of bouncing off the walls – just what I needed to beat my severe Mondayitis!

Blink and you’ll miss Bunker as you cruise down Railway Terrace – keep an eye out for the ivy covered surrounds with a couple of cool retro pushies out the front.  Parking’s not exactly easy so best to approach on foot if possible.
